DINESH KUMAR, NILANJAYA and CHANDAN KUMAR. 2016. Character association and path coefficient analysis in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)  under late sown condition. Green Farming Vol. 7 (4) : 795-798 ; July-August, 2016

ABSTRACT
The present study was undertaken with thirty two wheat genotypes suitable for late sown condition to assess character association analysis and cause and effect analysis. The traits viz., tillers per plant, spike length, spikelets per spike, grains per spike, 1000-grain weight, chlorophyll content have to be given importance in selection process for improvement in yield, since they had positive correlation with grain yield, positive inter-correlation among themselves, high positive direct effect towards grain yield and also all other characters contributed indirectly towards grain yield via., these characters. Hence, selection based on these characters would be more effective for yield improvement of wheat under late sown condition.
Key words :
Genotypic & Phenotypic correlation, Path coefficient, Wheat genotypes, Yield attributes.
