ABSTRACT
An experiment was conducted to study the character association among bulb yield and related traits with twelve varieties of onion at the Horticulture Research Farm, R.A.K College of Agriculture, Sehore (M.P). The varieties differed significantly for most of the characters and relatively wide range of the mean for most of the characters indicated the existence of variation among the tested varieties.Correlation coefficient analysis revealed that bulb yield per hectare(q) was positive and highly significant correlation with bulb yield per plant (g), bulb yield per plot(kg), marketable bulb yield (q).Plant height was positive significant correlation with leave length and no. of leaves. No of leaves positive and significant correlated with leave length, bulb yield per plant (g) and bulb yield per hectare (q).Bolting % was negative and significant correlation with polar diameter of bulb. Days taken to 50% neck fall was positive and significant correlation with polar diameter of bulb and it was also negative and significant correlation with bulb yield per plant (g). Similarly, Polar diameter of bulb recorded negative and significant correlation with TSS and bulb yield per plot (kg). Equatorial diameter of bulb was positive and significant correlation with bolting %. These associations suggested that selection for these characters will be effective in improving yield.
