ABSTRACT
The tractor operated farmyard manure spreader has been developed in order to achieve uniformity in farmyard manure application with controlled rate and to ensure timeliness of operation. The development of tractor operated farmyard manure was done at College of Agricultural Engineering, Raichur, during 2014-15. A tractor with 60 hp as power source was selected based on the power requirement for pulling the spreader trolley and to operate the hydraulic systems viz., trolley lifting and ground wheel assembly lifting. The farmyard manure spreader was made to operate through ground wheel assembly. Its performance was evaluated under different variables such as tractor forward speed, adjustable frame opening and tractor trolley slope. A tractor with 60 hp as power source was selected based on the power requirement. The farmyard manure having moisture content of 24.73 % was used for the spreading. The maximum application rate of 16.29 t/ha and minimum application rate of 13.13 t/ha was found at tractor forward speed of 0.55 m/s. the maximum coefficient of uniformity of 88.16 % and minimum application rate of 81.70 % was found at tractor forward speed of 0.55 m/s. It was also observed that the cost of operation of tractor operated farmyard manure spreader was ` 2183/ha, breakeven point and payback period were 179 h/annum and 1.44 years respectively.
