ABSTRACT
The field experiment on effect of nutrients foliar spray on yield, quality and shelf-life of guava cv. Sardar under high density planting was carried out during 2013-14 at Instructional-Cum Research Orchard, Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. The experiment consisted of four nutrients and was laid out in Randomized Block Design with ten treatments and three replications. Guava comprised of spray of nutrients viz. Calcium nitrate, Zinc, Boron, Magnesium and water spray at 50 % flowering and one month after first spray. Among the micronutrients spray, 1% Ca (NO3)2 recorded significantly higher average number of fruit per tree, average weight of fruit, yield per tree, yield per hectare, calcium and pectin (101.67, 218.87 g, 22.25 Kg, 55.63 t, 3.85 mg /100 g and 0.64 %) respectively. Among the various treatments, MgSO4 (0.1%) spray recorded significantly superior quality attributes like TSS, Total sugars, Non-reducing sugars, (11.72 0Brix, 7.81 %, 3.96 %,) respectively. However, spray of all the treatments significantly enhances the shelf-life and general appearance of Guava fruit as compared to treatments control and Water spray.
