ABSTRACT
The efficacy of eight fungicides and 3 biocontrol agents alone and in combination was assayed in vitro against Sclerotium rolfsii causing collar rot of chilli. The application of biocontrol agents viz., Tricoderma viride, T. harzianum, T. hamatum alone and in combination of two or three and fungicides alone and in combination were evaluated under in vitro and nursery condition. Amongst eight fungicides and three biocontrol agents evaluated alone and in combination under in vitro condition, carbendazim (0.1%) + mancozeb (0.25), mancozeb (0.25), propiconazole (0.05%), Tricoderma viride + T. harzianum + T. hamatum, T. viride + T. harzianum were found effective in inhibiting growth of mycelium and of sclerotial mycelium. Among the 14 modules tested for seed treatments and in nursery conditions, the fungicidal combinations of carbendazim + mancozeb and all the three biocontrol agents in combination was found most effective in recording maximum germination and lowest disease incidence under nursery conditions. Further studies conducted under field condition by giving seed treatment and soil drench with two more effective fungicidal treatments and three Tricoderma species alone and in combinations showed lowest seedling mortality and highest yield of green chillies by the seed treatment and soil application with carbendazim + mancozeb and T.viride + T. harzianum + T. hamatum.
