ABSTRACT
Heterosis in rice was studied in a set of 8x8 diallel cross excluding reciprocals. Mid parent, better parent and standard heterosis were estimated for yield and its components. High amount of heterotic existed for number of filled grains per panicle, grain yield per plant, panicle weigh and number of productive tillers per plant. It was observed from the present study that, heterotic response for grain yield per plant in the crosses viz., BPT 5204 x Akshyadhan, BPT 5204 x Sumathi, Akshyadhan x Improved Pusa Basmati and Improved Pusa Basmati x Basmati 370 was mainly due to high heterotic response observed for panicle length, panicle weight and number of grains per panicle.
Key words :
Aromatic rice, Heterosis, Heterobeltiosis, Standard heterosis, Yield attributes.
