ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at Department of Farm Management, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, Tamil Nadu during rabi season years of 2017-18. To study the effect of irrigation scheduling and nutrient management practices on growth, yield, water use and economics of rabi 2017-18 season on groundnut crop (Arachis hypogaea L.). The treatments were included at three levels of irrigation scheduling of 0.8 IW/CPE (I1), 0.6 IW/CPE (I2) and 0.4 IW/CPE (I3) and fertilizer treatments viz., N1 - 75 RDF + 5 tons charred rice husk, N2 - 50 RDF + 5 tons charred rice husk, N3 - 75 RDF+ 5 tons charred rice husk along AM and N4 - 75 RDF+ 5 tons charred rice husk along AM. IW/CPE denotes the ratio between a fixed amount of irrigation water (IW) and cumulative pan evaporation from US Weather Bureau Class B Open Pan. The recommended dose of fertilizer was applied through basal along. The pod and haulm yields of groundnut crop was significantly increased with treatment of 0.8 IW/CPE + 75 RDF + 5 tons charred rice husk along AM (I1N3) compared to 0.4 IW/CPE + 50 RDF+ 5 tons charred rice husk (I3N2). The increase in pod yield was upto 25% and haulm yield 9% with treatment of 0.8 IW/CPE + 75 RDF+ 5 tons charred rice husk along AM (I1N3) over treatment of 0.4 IW/CPE + 50 RDF + 5 tons charred rice husk (I3N2). This treatment also gave maximum gross returns (`110643), net returns (` 58593) and B:C ratio (2.1). The highest Crop water use efficiency (4.62) treatment of 0.8 IW/CPE + 75 RDF+ 5 tons charred rice husk along AM (I1N3) during rabi 2017-18 season.
