ABSTRACT
Crop insurance is a means of counteracting the uncertainties involved in crop production. The study was conducted in Dharwad district. It was found that onion followed by groundnut and jowar crops covered the maximum farmers and area under crop insurance scheme. The potato and onion were having the major portion of area under insurance scheme against the total area under these two crops. The kharif season was the major season in terms of sum insured, premium collected and claims paid and claim premium ratio in Dharwad district.
