ABSTRACT
The study was conducted during the year 2013-14 in Dharwad district situated in Northern Transitional Tract of Karnataka State. A sample of 180 respondents of Dharwad district was selected by using the simple random method of sampling. Structured interview schedule was used to collect the data through personal interview method. Change in cropping system interms of change in crop growers and change in area under crop was measured. The crops like jaydhar cotton, chilli, and kharif sorghum was replaced by Bt. cotton, maize and wheat crop. Decrease in number of jaydhar cotton, chilli and kharif sorghum growers from 1998-99 to 2012-13 were significant at one per cent level of probability. On the other hand increase in number of Bt. cotton, maize and wheat growers were significant at one per cent level of probability.
