ABSTRACT
A randomized block design field study was carried out on Hy. Cotton (cv. PKV2) grown in sodic Haplusters (pHS 8.35, ECe 2.70 dSm-1, SARe 18.30, HC 0.12 cmhr-1) during 1996-97 to 1998-99. treatments applied were gypsum @ 50% and 100% GR, FYM @ 5t ha-1 and PMC @ 2.5t ha-1, gypsum @ 50% GR + FYM @ 5t ha-1 and gypsum @ 50% GR + PMC @ 2.5t ha-1. These amendments were incorporated in soil before sowing. a significantly maximum increase in seed yield of cotton by about 68 per cent over control was noticed due to the integrated application of 50% GR + FYM @ 5t ha-1 or PMC @ 2.5t ha-1. however, both these combinations were at par with each other. these combinations futher reduced pHS (8.35 – 7.82), ECe (2.7 – 1.8) dSm-1 and SARe (18.30 -11.30) was registered and also enhanced HC of soil. a significantly positive relationship of seed cotton yield with HC (r = 0.906) and significantly negative relationship with pHS (r = -0.941**), ECe (r = 0.0991**) and SARe (r = -959**) was registered. regration studies indicated that seed cotton yield can be predicted by MLR model Y= 42.71 – 18.00** pHS 11.82*, ECe + 0.714, SARe -1388** HC R2 = 0.9997** describing 99% variability.
