ABSTRACT
The investigations on acute toxicity (LC50) of newer insecticide molecules to earthworm African night crawler Eudrilus eugeniae by contact filter paper method was carried out at Deptt. of Agric. Entomology lab. College of Agriculture Raichur, University of Agricultural Sciences Raichur during September to December 2010. The LC50 values of sub-adult earthworms, E. eugeniae was determined by filter paper method at 48 hours exposure. The LC50 values of the five insecticides tested against earthworms, E. eugeniae indicated rynaxypyr was the safest insecticide and imidacloprid was most toxic insecticide. The pattern of lethality was imidacloprid >acetamiprid >chlorpyriphos > spinosad >rynaxypyr at 48 hrs exposure with LC50 values of 36.66, 49.44, 76.94, 502.49 and 572.80 ?l/cm2 respectively.
