ABSTRACT
Genetic diversity analysis of chickpea germplasm can provide practical information for the selection of promising parental material and thus assist in designing the breeding programmes. In the present investigation, Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) marker and Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) markers were used to study the genetic diversity of twenty chickpea genotypes. Amplification of genomic DNA of 20 genotypes, using 8 RAPD primers yielded 56 amplicons with 60.71% polymorphism. Total percent polymorphism by ISSR marker was 63.46%. Out of 20 genotypes, more diverse genotype shown by RAPD and ISSR marker is BGD-2048. Present investigation on genetic diversity analysis in chickpea germplasm showed that, RAPD and ISSR marker techniques are useful in accessing genetic diversity of chickpea germplasm.
