ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT
Demonstrations on assessment of promising varieties of pigeonpea against dry rootrot disease with farmer's participation was conducted in Indi and Sindagi talukas of Vijayapur district of Karnataka for two years during 2017-18 and 2018-19. Results during 2017-18, indicated that the impact of various varieties on days to maturity was ranged from 179.0 to 167.30, on number of pods/plant were ranged from 185.00 to 175.20. Improved variety (GRG 811) recorded higher gross return of ?93180 /ha, net profit of .73380 /ha with benefit cost ratio of 4.71 as against farmer practice (TS-3R) wherein, the gross return of ?72900/ha, net profit of ?54800 /ha with B:C ratio of 4.03 was recorded for every rupee investment. Similarly, the Per cent dry root rot was severe in check plot (TS-3R) (18.10 PDI) and lower in GRG 811 (5.20 PDI). Results during 2018-19 indicated that the Impact of various varieties of Pigeon pea on days to maturity was ranged from 178.0 to 159.0, on number of pods / plant was ranged from 188.00 to 171.2. Variety GRG 811 recorded higher gross return of ?91,380 /ha, net profit of ?70,680 /ha with benefit cost ratio of 4.71 as against farmer practice (TS-3R) wherein, the gross return of ? 67500/ha, net profit of ?48900 /ha with B:C ratio was 3.63. Similarly, the Per cent dry root rot was severe in check plot (TS-3R) (17.40 PDI) and lower in GRG 811 (5.40 PDI). Pooled data indicated that, yield recorded in GRG 811(15.38 q/ha) was more than check variety (TS-3R) (11.70 q/ha).
