ABSTRACT
The present investigation was carried out to study the ideal spacing and optimum nutrition required for rose cv. Charisma at Regional Horticultural Research and Extension Cherry tomatoes (parents and F1 hybrids) were analysed for their quality and biochemical constituents such as fruit firmness, pericarp thickness, total soluble solids (TSS), acidity, ascorbic acid (Vit-C), total carotenoids, lycopene, total phenols and total flavanoids. A wide range of genetic variation for fruit firmness (3.33-9.53kg/mm2), pericarp thickness (2.20-6mm), TSS (4.66-7.70 B), acidity (0.18-0.6g/100 ml of juice), ascorbic acid (22.15-38.67mg/100g fresh fruit), total carotenoids (2.74-17.83mg/100g fresh fruit), lycopene (0.66-10.72mg/100g fresh fruit), total phenols (49.14-102.15mg/100g fresh fruit) and lastly total flavonoids (4.25-13.61mg/100g fresh fruit) was observed.
Key words :
Cherry tomato, Lycopene, Quality and biochemical traits, Vit-c, Total phenols.
