ABSTRACT
Seventy surface soil and wheat plant samples were collected from twenty two villages of Pushkar sub-tehsil of Ajmer district (Rajasthan) India. The soils were analysed for textural separates, physico-chemical properties and status of available micronutrients. Grain and straw of wheat plants were separately analysed for determination of micronutrient contents. The majority of soils were found sandy in nature and their texture varied from loamy sand to sandy loam. Soils of the study area were found slightly calcareous in nature. Majority of soils have low organic carbon and cation exchange capacity. On the basis of pH2 and EC2 values, these soils were found slightly alkaline and non-saline in nature. Majority of soils under study area were found deficient in available manganese and zinc, moderately sufficient in available iron, while, adequate in available copper and boron. The availability of micronutrients in soils significantly influenced by soil properties viz. textural separates, organic carbon, CaCO3, CEC and pH2 of soils. The contents of micronutrients in wheat plants mainly depend upon soil characteristics, viz. textural separates, CaCO3, organic carbon, CEC and their availabilities in soil.
