ABSTRACT
Incubation studies were conducted at the research laboratory of MRDBS, Pune to study the efficacy of PSB and KSB in calcareous and sodic soils. The releasing pattern of P and K nutrients during incubation and uptake of P and K was recorded using maize as a test crop. A significantly highest release of available P (43.31 kgha-1) and available K (310.00 kgha-1) was recorded after 60 days of incubation by inoculating 1250 mlha-1 each of PSB and KSB in calcareous soil. In case of sodic soil significantly highest release of available P (35.41 kgha-1) was noticed after 60 days of incubation by application of 1875 mlha-1 each of PSB and KSB supplemented with FYM (1.0 % O.C.). Significantly highest release of K (281.67 kgha-1) was noticed at 60 days after incubation by inoculating 1250 mlha-1 each of PSB and KSB. The uptake of phosphorous and potassium was also increased significantly by applying these inoculants in both the soils.
