ABSTRACT
A field experiment was carried out to ascertain the influence of biofertilizers on the floral and yield attributes of strawberry under subtropical conditions of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh during 2010-11. The experiment was laid in randomized block design with nine treatments and three replications. Strawberry runners were treated with different levels of biofertilizers viz. Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM) @ 8 kg and 12 kg ha-1, Azotobacter @ 5 kg and 7 kg ha-1. Azospirillum @ 5kg & 7kg per hectare, and Phosphobacter @ 5 kg and 7 kg ha-1.Observations were made to determine the influence of biofertilizers on reduction in number of days to fruit bud development, increase in number of flowers and fruits per plant, total number of fruits per plant and fruit yield. Among the applied treatments VAM @ 12 kg ha-1 played a significant role in reducing the number of days taken to fruit bud development (57.63), enhanced no of flowers per plant (31.03), increased total number of fruits per plant (27.02) and ultimately fruit yield (30.14 tonnes ha-1).
