ABSTRACT
Biology of Mallada boninensis was conducted on mealybug, Ferrisia virgata under laboratory conditions during the year 2008-09. The results of life history showed that the incubation period of M. boninensis was 4.00 ±0.09 days. The mean larval duration of M. boninensis was 14.07 ±0.78 days, the average longevity of first, second and third instar was 5.14 ± 0.36, 4.66 ± 0.52, 3.66 ± 0.47 days while pupal period and weight was 9.96 ±0.62 days and 8.38 ±0.30 mg on F. virgata, respectively. The mean longetivity of female and male was recorded as 31.95 and 27.50 days and the average preoviposition, oviposition and postoviposition periods were 9.75, 16.80 and 4.45 days, respectively with 1:1.75 M: F ratio and on an average 272.05 eggs per female as a fecundity.
