ABSTRACT
Briquettes of three combinations of agro residues with saw dust were produced through piston press briquetting machine having 90 mm die diameter. Physical properties of groundnut shell, soybean husk, saw dust and briquettes of their combinations were determined. Moisture content of loose biomass was ranges from 7 to 7.4 per cent and bulk density of saw dust, soybean husk and groundnut shell was found 0.234, 0.101 and 0.127 g/m3 respectively. Proximate analysis of loose biomass and their briquettes was carried out. Briquette SS3 (soybean husk : saw dust-50:50) possessed greater compressive strength (46.08 N/mm3), resistance to water penetration (78.07 per cent) and shatter resistance (97.28 per cent) was found greater in comparison to other briquette sample. Thermo gravimetric analysis of briquettes also carried out.
