ABSTRACT
Six genetically diverse liner/ varieties of table pea namely Azad P-1, Azad P-3, Azad P-5, KS-150, KS-156 and KS-175 were selected from the germplasm available at Vegetable Research Station, Kalyanpur of C.S.Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur for making diallel cross to study the combining ability during 2006-07. During 2007-08, 15 F1's and their 6 parents were studies in RBD with three replications. Results indicated that parents namely Azad P-1 and Azad P-3and KS-150 were best general combiners for green pod yield, shelling percentage and pod characters. The hybrids KS-156×KS-150, Azad P-1×Azad P-3, Azad P-5×KS-175, KS-150×Azad P-3, Azad P-1×KS-156 and Azad P-5×Azad P-3 were best specific crosses for several characters on the basis of specific combining ability effect. The results suggested exploitation of hybrid vigour in table pea.
Key words :
