ABSTRACT
Studies on the biology of C. montrouzieri on different species of mealy bugs revealed that, when predator reared on M. hirsutus, the different bio stages viz., average pre-mating, mating, pre-oviposition, oviposition and fecundity recorded were 7.10, 18.63, 9.4, 50.20 days and 155.9 respectively while, incubation period, total grub period, pre-pupal period and pupal period completed in 5.87, 15.7, 1.3, 13.8 days, respectively. When C. montrouzieri reared on P. solani the pre mating, mating, pre-oviposition, oviposition and fecundity recorded an average of 6.30, 15.03, 7.1, 49.1 days and 78.6, respectively while, incubation period, total grub period, pre-pupal period and pupal period observed to be 4.96, 14.1, 1.3 and 11.5 days, respectively.
The Australian ladybird beetle when reared on custard apple mealy bugs, the pre mating, mating, pre-oviposition, oviposition and fecundity recorded an average of 4.10, 9.49, 6.3, 41.89 days and 71.2 respectively, whereas incubation period, total grub period, pre-pupal period and pupal period were 4.7, 11.50, 1.3 and 8.0 days, respectively. The longevity of male and female without food was 3.2 and 4.5 days. The sex ratio was 1:1.17, 1:1.38 and 1:1.08 when reared on M. hirsutus, P. solani and custard apple mealy bugs, respectively.
