ABSTRACT
The present study was conducted in Nuh district (Mewat zone) of Haryana during 2021. Nuh district was purposely selected because of its vegetable cultivation hub. This study found out economics, farmer's share in consumer rupee and constraints faced by farmers in production and marketing of tomato, bottle gourd okra and onion. The study reveals that on average the total cost of production per hectare was ?188491, ?165554 ?253150 and ?216633, the B:C ratio over variable cost was 2.53,2.81, 2.10, 2.16 and B:C ratio over total cost was 1.46, 1.53, 1.31, 1.61 in tomato, bottle gourd, okra and onion respectively. The results further showed that the farmer's share in consumer rupee was highest in okra (56.32 percent). Followed by onion (47.91 percent), tomato (45.18 percent) and lowest observed in case of bottle gourd (33.57 percent). The results also revealed that timely non-availability and costly seed is the major constraints faced by farmers which is followed by non-availability of sufficient electricity for irrigation, whereas in marketing the major constraints was high fluctuation in price/Under pricing of their produce and monopoly of private commission agents in fixing price and credit shortage. It was suggested that there as a need of liberal credit facilities as vegetables cultivation in Nuh district (Mewat zone) is in efficient and improvement has to be made.
