ABSTRACT
The present investigation on comparative performance of F1 hybrids under different growing conditions on yield and yield attributing characters of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) was carried during summer season of 2014-2015, at Department of Horticulture, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli (M.S.).
The maximum days to last harvest (109.19), harvesting duration (63.22), length of fruit (11.84 cm), breadth of fruit (1.37 cm), ridges per fruit (5.24) and minimum days to first harvest (45.88) were recorded in GC1. While, maximum number of harvest (22.21) and number of fruits per plant (21.27) recorded in GC3. The maximum fruit weight (12.27 g) was recorded by GC2. With regard to variation in F1 hybrids, significantly the hybrid V3 showed the minimum days to first harvest (48.46), maximum days to last harvest (107.21), number of harvests (20.02), harvesting duration (58.76) and number of fruit per plant (17.20). The maximum fruit breadth (1.43 cm), ridges per fruit (6.08) and fruit weight (12.70 g) were recorded in V2. While, the highest fruit length (12.28 cm) was recorded in V5.
The effect of interaction of growing conditions and hybrids showed highest days required for last harvest (109.30) in GC1V1. Further, the highest number of harvests (23.03) was recorded in GC3V1. The treatment combination GC1V5 showed the highest harvesting duration (63.63) while, the highest fruit length (13.02 cm) was recorded in GC3V5. Significantly, the highest number of fruits per plant (24.80) was recorded in GC3V5.
Growing condition GC3 shows, the highest fruit yield per plant (0.25 kg), fruit yield per m2 (1.88 kg) and yield per hectare (15.37 t). The highest fruit yield per plant (0.20 kg), fruit yield per m2 (1.51 kg) and yield per hectare (9.60 t) were noticed in V3. Among the interaction effects, the treatment combination GC3V3 produced the highest fruit yield per plant (0.28 kg), fruit yield per m2 (2.08 kg) and fruit yield per hectare (16.47 t).
