ABSTRACT
A total of 125 farm women were trained for hybrid rice seed production during kharif 2005 and rabi 2005-06 at Department of Rice, TNAU, Coimbatore. Trained farm women had taken up hybrid rice seed production of CORH 2 and CORH 3 rice hybrids. They obtained an average seed yield of 500 kg /acre. A net profit of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 40,000/- per acre was obtained within a period of four months. Apart from this, it generates an employment opportunity to rural women. Hence, Hybrid rice seed production provides employment and income through which the farm women are empowered.
