ABSTRACT
The field experiment was carried out at Forage Section, Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, C.C.S. Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during kharif, 2012. Thirty-three genotypes of clusterbean were evaluated for various quantitative characters. All the genotypes were grown in Randomized block design with three replications under rainfed conditions. This study helps in identifying the characters which mainly contributing to the seed yield. A critical perusal of correlation coefficients revealed that the seed yield per plant was found to be positively and significantly associated with number of pods per plant, number of clusters per plant and number of pods per cluster while days to maturity, days to flowering and plant height had negative association. Path coefficient analysis revealed that number of pods per plant had positive and high direct effect and it contributed indirectly via number of clusters per plant, number of pods per cluster. The results present study suggested that selection based on the pods per plant, clusters per plant and pods per cluster traits might bring improvement in seed yield of clusterbean.
