ABSTRACT
Looking at the acute shortage of labour in farm sector, the entire gamut of farm operation starting from land preparation to harvesting and threshing of the crops need to be mechanized in order to increase crop yield and thereby increasing the income of the farmers. For increasing the level of mechanization proper selection of farm power is the most important component. Appropriate selection of optimum power source is complex and tedious process as it required computational work involved in solving the equations for changing soil condition and cropping system and varying farmers area. Thus a decision support system (DSS) software was developed using PHP programming language for the optimum selection of farm power. The purpose of the study was developing the software for mechanized operations and its application in paddy-groundnut crop rotation for Odisha.
The program is useful by the farmer as, it gives the direct results of required farm power by giving inputs like area and implements used in the particular agricultural operation.
