ABSTRACT
An experiment was conducted at College Farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari (Gujarat) during rabi season of the year 2011-12 to study the effect of spacing and nutrient management on yield and quality of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.). Maximum plant height at 30 DAS, 60 DAS and at harvest were recorded with spacing 30 cm X 20 cm. While, maximum head diameter, number of seeds per head and 100 seed weight were recorded with spacing 60 cm X 20 cm.The maximum seed and stover yields were recorded with 30 cm x 20 cm while in case of quality of sunflower, significantly higher oil yield (5.69 q ha-1) was recorded under spacing 60 cm x 20 cm. The N content and uptake in seed and stover and K uptake in stover were non-significantly influenced due to spacing levels, inorganic fertilizer and biofertilizer but P uptake in seed and stover and K uptake in seed were significantly influenced due to spacing levels, inorganic fertilizer and biofertilizer. Significantly higher seed yield was recorded under treatment receiving 125 per cent RDF. Oil yield and oil content was significantly improved by use of biofertilizer and inorganic fertilizer. Treatment receiving 125 % RDF realized the highest net realization of 30019 .ha-1 with the highest BCR of 2.05. There was an appreciable increase in net realization due to biofertilizer.
