ABSTRACT
Field experiment was conducted at department of horticulture, VNMKV Parbhani during kharif season of 2011 to study the effect of various carbon sources amended soil on nutrient availability, growth, yield, nutrient concentration in leaf and quality of spinach. The treatments were T1 (RDF + flyash @ 5 t ha-1), T2 (RDF + biochar @ 5 t ha-1), T3 (RDF + coal @ 5 t ha-1), T4 (RDF + Vermicompost @ 5 t ha-1), T5 (RDF i.e. 40:40: 40 kg NPK ha-1), T6 (biochar @ 5 t ha-1), and T7 (absolute control) and replicated in to four. The results revealed that application of Vermicompost @ 5 t ha-1 + recommended dose of fertilizers improved the soil fertility (Availability of N,P,K and Fe), growth parameters ( plant height, leaf area, number of leaves, length of petiole), leaf nutrient concentration, dry matter, percent moisture, yield and quality ( vitamin C and chlorophyll content ) of spinach over rest of the treatments.
Key words :
