ABSTRACT
A field experiment to study the effect of cow urine and humic acid on growth of onion (Allium cepa L.) cv. Agrifound Light Red was carried out during rabi season 2016-17 at College of Horticulture, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Jagudan (Gujarat). The experiment was laid out in a Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications and sixteen treatment combinations comprising four levels of each cow urine viz., 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% and four levels of humic acid viz., 0%, 2%, 4% and 6%, respectively. Common application of recommended dose of NPK and FYM 20 t/ha were applied to all the treatments. All the growth parameters were significantly affected by individual application of cow urine and humic acid. Height of plants at 45 and 90 DAT, number of leaves at 45 and 90 DAT, neck thickness at 45 and 90 DAT, days taken for maturity were recorded maximum with 30% cow urine and 6% humic acid individually.
The minimum bolting percent were observed with 30% cow urine and 6% humic acid individually. The study concluded that cow urine at 30 per cent spray can be applied for higher yield and net return of onion.
