ABSTRACT
A field experiment entitled “Effect of cow urine and humic acid on yield and quality of onion (Allium cepa L.) cv. Agrifound Light Red” was carried out during rabi season 2016-17 at College of Horticulture, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Jagudan (Gujarat). The experiment was laid out in a Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications and sixteen treatment combinations comprising four levels of each cow urine viz., 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% and four levels of humic acid viz., 0%, 2%, 4% and 6%, respectively. Common application of recommended dose of NPK and FYM 20 t/ha were applied to all the treatments. All the yield and quality parameters were significantly affected by individual application of cow urine and humic acid. In case of yield attributes, individual application of 30% cow urine and 6% humic acid recorded maximum weight of bulb, marketable yield per plot, total yield per plot, marketable yield per hectare, total yield per hectare, minimum unmarketable yield per plot and minimum unmarketable yield per hectare. In case of quality attributes the individual application of cow urine at 30% and humic acid at 6% recorded maximum diameter of bulb and total soluble solids but minimum neck thickness after curing. The study concluded that cow urine at 30 per cent spray can be applied for higher yield and net return of onion.
