ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture, V. C. Farm, Mandya, Southern Dry Zone of Karnataka to study the effect of different fertilizer levels and different spacings on growth and yield of okra. The plant height at various stages of crop growth was noticed significantly difference at different levels of nutrient and spacing, higher plant height at 30, 60 and 90 days after sowing was observed in the nutrient level 125% recommended dose of fertilizer (17.35, 41.61 and 99.29 cm, respectively). Among different spacings, spacing 60 cm × line sowing recorded the higher plant height (18.12, 44.08, 102.99) at 30, 60 and 90 days after sowing respectively. The leaves per plant at various stages of crop growth were significantly increased with increased nutrient levels, higher leaves per plant (19.30) at 90 days after sowing was recorded in 125% recommended dose of fertilizer. Maximum number of fruits per plant (18.04), weight of fruit per plant (162.39 g), weight of fruit per plot (18.31 kg) and total fruit yield (9.54 t ha-1) was recorded in 125% recommended dose of fertilizer and the spacing 60×30 cm recorded the higher number of fruits per plant (20.30), weight of fruit per plant (177.36 g), weight of fruit per plot (19.14 kg) and total fruit yield (9.97 t ha-1).
