ABSTRACT
The effect of growing media on different gerbera was evaluated in naturally ventilated polyhouse under low altitude conditions of Nagaland. Four varieties viz., Sea, Lau, Roc and D.Brown were grown on five growing media comprising soil, vermicompost, FYM, FYM + cocopeat (1:1) and poultry manure + coco peat (1:1). Eleven traits comprising of morphological traits, flower traits and yield were recorded. Among the four varieties, Roc recorded the maximum plant height (33.5 cm) and Lau recorded the minimum plant height (29.4 cm). D.Brown had maximum leaf length, breadth and stalk length, whereas Sea was earliest, had maximum flower diameter. Lau (15.77) and Sea (14.03) recorded maximum number of flowers per plant. Among the five media evaluated, vermicompost performed better in terms of maximum plant height (32.1 cm), stalk length (65.63 cm), maximum flower diameter (11.84 cm) and highest yield per plant per year (15.99).
