A.H. CHAUDHARI, J.R. VADODARIA and H.T. PATEL. 2016. Effect of different varieties and planting date on quality and yield of knolkhol (Brassica oleracea var. Gongylodes). Green Farming Vol. 7 (4) : 842-844 ; July-August, 2016

ABSTRACT
The study was conducted with three planting date viz., 1st November (D1), 15th November (D2) and 1st December (D3) at four varieties viz., ‘White Vienna’ (V1), ‘Palam Tender Knob’ (V2), ‘Early White Vienna’ (V3) and ‘Purple Vienna’ (V4), Among the planting date maximum knob diameter and knob length found with 1st December (D3) and it is statistically at par with 15th November (D2) whereas volume of knob, crude protein and organoleptic score significantly maximum with 15th November (D2) and minimum days taken for harvesting, fresh weight of knob, yield per plot and yield per hectare highest found with 15th November (D2) and it is statistically at par with 1st December (D3), Among the cultivars, maximum knob diameter and knob length, volume of knob, crude protein and organoleptic score, fresh weight of knob, yield per plot and yield per hectare highest found with cv. ‘Purple Vienna’ (V4) and it is statistically at par with ‘Tender Knob’ (V2) and ‘Early White Vienna’ (V3). Thus, among all treatment combinations,15th November planting maximum knob diameter, knob length, volume of knob, crude protein, organoleptic score, fresh weight of knob, yield per plot and yield per hectare highest found with variety ‘Purple Vienna’ (V4).
