ABSTRACT
A field experiment on effect of fertilizers and manures with foliar application of iron on barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) was conducted at Agronomy Farm, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner (Jaipur-Rajasthan) to work out the suitable combination of organic manures and fertilizers along with foliar application of iron at various stages on loamy sand soil during two consecutive rabi seasons of 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Results of the study revealed that application of 50% RDF + VC @ 2 t /ha recorded significant increase in plant height at all the stages of crop growth except 30 DAS. The same treatment also significantly increased growth attributes viz., total no. of tillers, LAI, LAD, CGR, RGR, NAR and chlorophyll content as well as grain and straw yields. Application of 50% RDF + VC @ 2 t /ha recorded significantly higher net return and B:C ratio of barley. Application of 0.5% FeSO4 foliar spray at tillering + flowering stage resulted in significantly higher plant height over rest of the treatments at 60, 90 and at harvest. Foliar spray 0.5% FeSO4 at tillering + flowering stage resulted in significantly higher growth attributes and grain and straw yields with higher net return and B:C ratio. A significant interaction effect on grain yield and net return was found between organic manure and foliar spray. Application of 50% RDF + VC @ 2 t /ha along with foliar application of iron 0.5% FeSO4 at tillering + flowering stage gave significantly higher values of these parameters over control.
