ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2005-06 to 2008-09 at Main Cotton Research Station, Surat under irrigated condition to find out the effect of foliar application of KNO on Bt cotton. Treatments comprised control (without K), six 3
treatments of foliar spray two, three and four times at 2% and 3% KNO during squaring to boll development stage and two 3 treatments of soil application of K at basal and in splits. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The seed cotton yield was significantly influenced due to foliar application of KNO . The maximum seed cotton yield 3 (2329 kg ha-1) was produced under the treatment of three sprays of 3% KNO during squaring, flowering and boll development 3 stages, which was superior to all the treatments including soil application of potassium during individual years as well as on pooled basis. The seed cotton yield was increased to the tune of 30% over control. Potassium application did not significantly influenced on fibre quality of cotton. The highest net return was obtained in the treatment of three foliar sprays of 3% KNO during 3 squaring to boll development stages in Bt cotton.
