ABSTRACT
The cultivated gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii) is an important commercial flower grown throughout the world in a wide range of climatic conditions. The shoot multiplication of gerbera was done in combination of BAP (0.5 -2.0 mg/l) and KIN (0.1mg/l) in full MS strength. The root induction was done at different concentration of IAA (0.5-2.0 mg/l) and BAP (0.1mg/l) in full MS strength. The highest shoot number as well as highest shoot length was observed in BAP (1.0 mg/l) and KIN (0.1 mg/l). The lowest shoot development and lowest average length of shoot was observed in control. The highest root development and highest average root length was recorded at 1.5mg/l IAA and 0.1 mg/l BAP concentration. The lowest root development and average root length was observed in control. The combination of BAP (1.0 mg /l) + KIN (0.1 mg/l) and IAA (1.5 mg/l) + BAP (0.1 mg/l) was observed better for shoot multiplication and rooting in gerbera respectively.
Key words :
BAP, Gerbera, KIN, Root development, Shoot multiplication.
