ABSTRACT
Guinea grass cv. Riversdale was evaluated at farmer's field of Kollam district of Kerala State under rainfed condition during 2006-2009 to find out the effect of different integrated nutrient management practices on its growth characters and yield attributes . There were altogether thirteen treatments comprising of recommended NPK, reducing 25 and 50 percent NPK individually and in combination with vermicompost , biogas slurry of cow dung mixed with rubber latex effluents and biofertilizers (Azotobacter and VAM). Growth characters and yield attributes were recorded. The results of the study indicated that, application of biodegraded organic manure in combination with biofertilizers and lower doses of inorganic fertilizer gave higher growth characters and yield attributes than application of the recommended dose of inorganic fertilizers alone . Among the different integrated nutrient management practices tested , application of 75 percent NPK along with biogas slurry of cow dung mixed with rubber latex effluents and biofertilizers was found to be superior in growth characters and yield attributes of guinea grass grown under rainfed condition in coconut gardens of Kerala.
