ABSTRACT
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of irrigation, mulching and nitrogen levels on yield and economics of okra during summer seasons of 2004-05 to 2005-06 on partially reclaimed coastal salt affected soils of South Gujarat. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replication and with main plot treatments consisting of all combinations of : 1. Irrigation (0.75 and 1.0 IW/CPE ratios) and 2. Mulching (no mulch and black plastic mulch) and sub plot treatment Nitrogen levels (75, 100 and 125 kg N/ha). Results show that scheduling of irrigation at 1.0 IW/CPE ratio, application of black plastic mulch and higher dose of nitrogen i.e. 125 kg N/ha gave significantly higher fruit yield of okra than their respective lower level / control. Further, these treatments also resulted in higher net return.
