ABSTRACT
A study was conducted at long term fertilization experiment conducted under rice-rice cropping sequence since 1964 at Onattukara Regional Agricultural Research Station, Kayamkulam, Kerala on yield and active pools of soil organic carbon. The effect of various doses of N, P, and K fertilizer on biometric, yield attributes and active pools of carbon in rice-rice cropping sequence was studied. The results revealed that highest biometric observations, yield attributes, grain yield, straw yield and active carbon pool was obtained under integrated nutrient management (NPK+FYM). These results indicated that the application of FYM along with NPK fertilizers resulted in significant increase in active pools of carbon and yield in rice. Hence it can be recommended as the best management practice. Sensitivity index of different carbon fractions were also studied to find the sensitivity of each fraction to management practices.
