ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted during summer 2005 at Annamalai University experimental farm, to study the residual management of maize with organics, inorganics and biofertilizers viz., bonesludge, Azospirillum and phosphobacteria on blackgram in maize-blackgram sequence. Among all the treatments, Application of NPK based on the soil test recommendation + bonesludge @ 2.5 t ha-1 + biofertilizers recorded maximum growth (plant height, 51.04 cm and leaf area index 2.88) and yield attributes (No. of pods plant-1 42.43, No. of seeds per pod 7.45), resulting in higher grain yield (1904.08 kg ha-1) when compared to control (no manure) (plant height, 24.50 cm, LAI, 1.78, No. of pods per plant 18.35, No. of seeds per pod 4.16 and seed yield 580.29 kg ha-1).
Key words :
Azospirillum, biofertilizers, blackgram, bonesludge, maize residue, vermicopost, Vigna mungo.
