ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted from Kharif 2007-08 to 2010-11 on different sites at the research farm of AICRP for Dry Land Agriculture, Sardarkrushinagar (District.: Banaskantha,North Gujarat) and centre of excellence for research on organic farming at Bhachau (District: Kutchchha, North-West Gujarat) under arid and semi-arid agro-climatic zone. The application of treatments viz., F1: Control, F2: 100 % N, F3: 150 % N, F4: 100 % N+ 50 % P2O5, F5: F3+50 % P2O5, F6: F2+ 100 % P2O5, F7: F3+ 100 % P2O5, F8 : F4+ 50 % K2O, F9 : F6+ 50 % K2O, F10 : F6+ 100 % K2O, F11 : F5+ 50 % K2O, F12 : F7+ 50 % K2O, F13 : F7+ 100 % K2O ha-1 under randomized block design. The seed and straw yields were influenced significantly due to application of different levels of recommended doses of NPK nutrients. The highest seed yield (1361 kg/ha) and straw yield (3921 kg/ha) were recorded due to recommended doses of 100:100:100 and 150:100:50 NPK per cent and they were found at par with all the treatments except control, 100:00:00, 150:00:00 and 100:50:00 per cent recommended doses of NPK in pooled results at Sardarkrushinagar. The highest gross realization of ` 21577 was obtained with 150:100:50 per cent recommended doses of NPK followed by 100:100:100 per cent NPK treatment, while the maximum net realization of ` 13853 and B:C ratio (2.80) were recorded due to 100:100:100 NPK treatment in which net income (` 13446) followed by 150:100:50 and B:C ratio (2.77) was followed by 100:100:50 per cent recommended doses of NPK. While at Bhachau, the highest seed yield (1245 kg/ha) was recorded due to 100:100:100 per cent NPK recommended doses of NPK and it was at par with F12, F13, F9, F8 and F6 in pooled results. However, the highest straw yield (3921 kg/ha) was recorded due to application of 150:100:50 per cent recommended NPK, but it was found at par with all the NPK treatments except control and 100 per cent recommended dose of N in pooled results. The highest gross realization (` 19513), net income (` 11832) and B:C ratio (2.54) were obtained with 100:100:100 per cent recommended doses of NPK followed by 150:100:50 per cent NPK treatment in case of gross realization and net income, while in case of B:C ratio it was followed by 100:100:50 per cent recommended doses of NPK. At both the locations, the higher doses of recommended NPK resulted in higher build up of major nutrients in the soil.
