ABSTRACT
To study the effect of organic farming on growth, disease dynamics and some physiological parameters, an experiment was conducted in the terai region of West Bengal with sandy loam soil and slightly acidic pH (5.7). Response of different varieties to inoculation shows variation. Chilli genotype Tejaswini, Indu, NS-1701, Arun-99, Teja and Mega hot showed higher seedling height, enhanced the root growth in Venus-42, Indu, NS-1701 and Teja .Chlorophyll content and peroxidase activity found to range from 38-50 SPAD value and from 0.23-0.42 (?490/min/gm fr. Wt.) respectively. Deb – 1304 is found to be highly susceptible variety followed by BSS – 558. Spicy-20, Teja, Deb-1304 and Tejaswini are resistant. It indicate that there is a scope of selection of genotypes to be grown under organic system.
