ABSTRACT
The long-term application of manures and fertilizers on enzyme activities during wet season was investigated in submerged conditions under rice-rice cropping system at Andhra Pradesh Rice Research Institute, Maruteru, Andhra Pradesh. In the study, the five treatments were unfertilized (control), inorganic N fertilizer (90 kg ha-1), inorganic fertilizer NPK @ 90-60-60 kg ha- 1), FYM @ 10 Mg ha-1 and inorganic fertilizer NPK and FYM @ 5 Mg ha-1. On average, the acid phosphatase activity and alkaline phosphatase activity recorded significantly higher activity in NPK fertilizer + FYM followed by FYM, Inorganic NPK, Inorganic N and control. Both the enzymes recorded significantly increased activity up to the panicle initiation stage of the crop growth and thereafter showed a decreasing trend. A two fold higher activity of acid phospatase and four-fold of alkaline phosphatase were recorded at the panicle initiation stage of the crop growth. The enzyme activities were significantly correlated with TOC content of soils, and interrelationship existed (0.987**) between the enzymes in cropped soils under submerged conditions.
