ABSTRACT
Field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm B.A. College of Agriculture, Anand Campus, Anand during kharif season of the year 2004-05.The main objective of the study was to find out the effect of organic & inorganic fertilizer on seed yield of sweet corn (Zea mays L.). The experiment was studied with split plot design having two levels of biofetilizer, FYM and phosphorus as main plot treatments along with five levels of nitrogen as sub-plot treatment. Application of phosphorus significantly increased plant height at all crop growth stages, number rows/cob, shelling per cent, grain weight per cob, volume of cob, grain and stover yield of sweet corn with significant reduction in number of barren plant/plot. 6.74 percent higher grain yield recorded with 50 kg phosphorous/ha than control. . Seed inoculation with Pseudomonas striata gave 31485 ` ha-1 and application of P2O5 at 0 and 50 kg. P2O5 ha-1 gave 6.70% and 4.43% higher grain and straw yield, respectively. Seed inoculation with Pseudomonas gave significant increase in growth and yield parameters and grain yield increased to the tune of 8.24 percent. Inoculation with PSB significantly increased the plant height at all crop growth stages (i.e. 21, 42, 36 and 84 DAS), number of barren plans/plot, test weight, shelling per cent, grain weight/cob, volume of cob, grain and stover yield as well as harvest index of sweet corn. It also helped in significant reduction in number of barren plants.
Key words :
Maize, PSB, Pseudomonas and net realization, Zea mays.
