ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted on clusterbean during kharif, 2009 at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Bikaner. The soil of the experimental field was loamy sand in texture, alkaline in reaction (pH8.2), low organic carbon (0.07%), available nitrogen (85 kg ha-1), available phosphorus (20.91 kg ha-1) and potassium (225.14 kg ha-1). The treatment comprised of four levels of phosphorus (0, 15, 30 and 45 kg ha-1) and four biofertilizers [control (B0,) Rhizobium (B1), PSB (B2) and Rhizobium + PSB (B3)]. The 16 treatments combinations were laid out in randomized block design and replicated three times. The results indicated that increasing levels of phosphorus up to 45 kg P2O5 ha-1 significantly increased the dry matter per plant at 60 DAS and at harvest whereas up to 30 kg P2O5 ha-1. Increasing number of nodules per plant at 45 & 60 DAS and chlorophyll content were at par with 45 kg P2O5 ha-1 , protein content significantly increasing to application of 45 kg P2O5 ha-1 over control, 15 and 30 kg P2O5 ha-1, respectively. P content in seed and total uptake of N & P significantly increasing to application of 45 kg P2O5 ha-1 over control, 15 and 30 kg P2O5 ha-1, respectively. All the biofertilizers were significantly increased the dry matter, number of nodules per plant, chlorophyll content. The P content in seed and total uptake of N & P were significantly higher due to Rhizobium + PSB over no inoculation and Rhizobium inoculation. While P content in straw significantly higher due to Rhizobium + PSB over no inoculation.
