ABSTRACT
Field experiments were conducted to study the effect of phosphorus, sulphur and PSB on growth and yield of pea (Pisum sativum L.) was carried out at the Pulgaon, Durg (C.G) during rabi season of 2012. The study was to optimize the level of phosphorus, sulphur and use of PSB inoculation for better growth and yield of pea. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design, with three replications. The experiment was conducted with pea var. Azad P-3. The treatment comprised of three levels of phosphorus (0, 40 & 80 kg ha-1), two levels of sulphur (0 & 30 kg ha-1) and with & without PSB. The growth and yield attributes like, leaf area, pods per plant, pod yield, length of pod, seeds per plant, protein content, number of nodules and dry weight of nodules were recorded and found superior with 40 kg P ha-1, 30 kg S ha-1 and with PSB inoculation, as compared to other treatments. The application of phosphorus and sulphur provided synergistic effect on most of the growth and yield parameters. Application of 40 kg P ha-1 and 30 kg S ha-1 with PSB inoculation showed the highest yield as compared to other treatments. It not only increased the green pod yield of pea but also improved the quality of the green pea. The application of phosphorus and sulphur in combination with PSB inoculation not only sustained the productivity of the crop but also improved the soil health.
