ABSTRACT
A field investigation was conducted to find out the effect of plant growth regulators on yield and quality of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cv. Bhagwa with nine levels of plant growth regulators (GA3 and NAA each at 0, 25 and 50 ppm and MH at 0, 100 and 200 ppm concentration) and twenty seven treatment combinations were replicated thrice in Factorial randomized block design. The data indicated that application of GA3 at 25 ppm recorded significantly maximum fruits per plant (27.00), diameter of fruit (6.72 cm), average weight of fruit (207.15 g), yield per plant (5.89 kg), number of arils per fruit (370.31) and non-reducing sugar (1.58%). Application of NAA at 25 ppm registered significantly maximum diameter of fruit (6.92 cm), average weight (201.26 g) and average volume (219.67 cc) of fruit, number of arils per fruit (357.29), highest reducing sugar (9.29%) and total sugar (10.69%). Spraying of MH 200 ppm produced maximum number of fruits per plant (29.04), diameter of fruit (6.79 cm), average weight of fruit (194.89 g), yield per plant (6.06 kg), average volume (218.48 cc) of fruit, number of arils per fruit (350.67), highest TSS (13.340brix) and non-reducing sugar (1.39%). Spraying of GA3 @ 25 ppm + MH @ 200 ppm produced maximum yield with superior quality of pomegranate fruits.
