ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted during rabi 2014-15 at Agricultural College Farm, Bapatla to study the growth and yield of rabi maize at different planting densities and nitrogen levels. The experiment was laid out in a Split plot design and replicated thrice. The results revealed that nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and zinc uptake at tasseling and maturity was significantly influenced by planting densities and nitrogen levels but their interaction was found to be significant only for nitrogen at tasseling while it is non-significant for phosphorus, potassium and zinc. Highest nutrient uptake (N, P, K and Zn) was recorded with planting density of M1 (1,00,000 plants ha-1) with S8 (300 kg N ha-1 + 0.5% ZnSO4 as foliar spray at tasseling) compared to M1 (1,00,000 plants ha-1) with S4 (300 kg N ha-1) .
Key words :
Maize, Planting densities, Nitrogen levels, Zinc foliar spray.
