ABSTRACT
A research project was carried out at the Model Orchard, College of Horticulture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during 2011-2012, to investigate the effect of four regimes of planting dates 1st November, 15th November and 1st December, 15th December on six plant densities of S1 - 10 × 5 cm (900 plants/plot), S2 - 15 × 5 cm (600 plants/plot), S3 - 20 × 5 cm (450 plants/plot), S4 - 10 × 7.5 cm (600 plants/plot), S5 - 15 × 7.5 cm (400 plants/plot) and S6 - 20 × 7.5 cm (300 plants/plot). The experiment was laid out on split plot design with plot size of 3m × 1.5m in three replications. The results revealed that the planting on 1st November and lower plant density recorded significantly higher growth parameters like plant height, plant girth, number of leaves/plant, fresh weight and dry weight of leaves, dry matter production of whole plant, leaf area and Leaf area index.
