ABSTRACT
Field experiments were conducted during summer seasons of 2010-11 and 2011-12 in Vertisols of Sehore, Central India, Madhya Pradesh to study the effect of different pre- and post-emergence herbicide application on growth and yield of black gram. The results revealed that highest seed yield with highest weed control efficiency was obtained with two hand weeding at 20 and 40 days after sowing (DAS) and was statistically at par with pendimethalin 30 EC + imazethapyr 2 EC @1.0 kg a.i/ha PE. Application of pendimethalin 30 EC and post-emergence application of quizalofop-ethyl 5 EC, fenoxaprop-p-ethyl 9 EC and combo product of pendimethalin 30 EC + imazethapyr 2 EC also reduced weed biomass and improved seed yield and yield attributing parameters as compared to weedy check. The application of combo product also gave highest net return of ` 32,682 as compared to weedy check.
